"The Alaska Railroad relies on Therm Dynamics heaters to keep their remote rail siding switches operating during the harsh Alaskan winters with temperatures ranging from 20° to -60°F."

Between employee safety, customer concerns, and increasing regulations jobsite safety is a very large consideration on any project.   At Therm Dynamics we take safety seriously and have made the following considerations:

  • First; there is no fire risk because no fire is involved in the operation of the unit.
  • Secondly; we optionally provide a brushless alternator to reduce the possibility of sparks generated in the engine compartment.
  • Third; the exhaust heat exchanger safely draws temperatures of the exhaust stack to a level where employees will not get burned if contact with the stack occurs.
  • Fourth; no harmful fumes are vented into the working environment.

Further safety features are incorporated to protect the investment of your Therm Dynamics heaters.   All heaters are equipped with the following set of shut-off switches

    • Water temperatures exceeds 210° F
    • Hydraulic plate oil pressure drops to 5 psi.
    • Engine speed exceeds 200 rpm above throttle governor speed.
    • Engine oil pressure drops to 25 psi.

    Optional Automatic Air Intake Shut-off

    • Automatic Air Shut Off
    • Closes the air intake and shuts down the engine in the event of increased RPM’s due to the engine taking in flammable gas fumes. Our systems meet or exceed OSHA, MSHA, and API standards for use in most areas
